Isolated low FreeT4 without high TSH should not be treated with thyroid hormone.It is strongly advised not to use T3 ,combo T4/T3 or desiccated thyroid (Armour) during pregnancy. T4 treatment to keep TSH in the lower reference range. Increased dose of T4 is needed in pregnancy. Hypothyroid females with a positive pregnancy test should increase dose by two extra tabs weekly and notify their physician.Following delivery reduce dose back to before the pregnancy and test in 6 weeks.
