  2. Read the report on your own. See if the big nodule is mostly solid with just some cyst fluid component. If it is spongiform on the report you don’t need a biopsy as they are 99% benign.

  7. If the biopsy of the nodule was benign you could be a candidate for RFA.
  8. If you have symptoms from the nodule or it is a cosmetically ugly neck mass you are a candidate for RFA. This patient had both local symptoms and a cosmetic issue both relieved by thyroid RFA in Europe.

  11. Confront them about your desire not to have surgery and that you have heard about RFA as a first line alternative to surgery.

  17. My evaluation would require to stay overnight in Los Angeles at my center in Santa Monica.
  18. The evaluation is to make the risk of cancer < 3% by a repeat second biopsy by me and a molecular marker and classifier, detailed endocrine neck ultrasound and repeat thyroid function tests including antibodies and growth marker thyroglobulin.
