Bipolar Electrode: Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation RFA of Nodules and Cancer for Pregnant Females and Cardiac Patients with Pacemakers.
The unipolar RFA electrode probe causes the need for a larger exit site. This requires large grounding pads on the thighs. The system shown here for liver is the same unipolar Thyroid RFA.
Bipolar has two electrode next to each other in the probe. The second takes the place of the grounding pads.
This prevents any electricity to flow through the pregnant patient and also away from the pacemaker.
