Prognosis of Diffuse Sclerosing Variant Papillary thyroid cancer (DSVPTC)

Vuong et al European J.Endocrinology Feb 10 2017

16 articles with 732 DSVPTC cases for study. Overall more aggressive that classic PTC. Higher rate of vascular invasion, extrathyroidal extension, lymph node disease, distant spread, and more likely to relapse. They had a worsen overall  survival.

Conclusion: DSVPTC is a high risk variant.

Comment: It must be rare as I have never had a case in 40 years.
