600 patients with or without a neck dissection were studies.140/345 had Hashimoto’s. All had surgery.

  1. patients with CHT had fewer metastatic lymph nodes than those without CHT.
  2. CHT with positive TPO antibodies had more inflammatory neck lymph nodes.
  3. There appears tom be a protective effect of autoimmune CHT on the extent of neck metastatic lymph node disease.
  4. Other studies have hinted at this protective effect of autoimmune CHT.
