600 patients with or without a neck dissection were studies.140/345 had Hashimoto’s. All had surgery.
- patients with CHT had fewer metastatic lymph nodes than those without CHT.
- CHT with positive TPO antibodies had more inflammatory neck lymph nodes.
- There appears tom be a protective effect of autoimmune CHT on the extent of neck metastatic lymph node disease.
- Other studies have hinted at this protective effect of autoimmune CHT.
