It is sad that the richest country in the world still operates on most benign nodules in 2018.

This is the cause on unnecessary hospitalization, surgery, post op complications, hospital infections, even death. Also weeks of recovery, lost time from work.  ThyroidRF requires no hospital visit,  surgery and no major complications or no term side effects. It is done in one or two visits and there is no down time as the patient can go back to work that day.

Since 2002 when radiofrequency ablation RFA was first used to treat benign thyroid nodules by Dr.Baek from Seoul Korea this treatment has become the treatment of choice in many countries but not the USA.

The patients with treatable benign thyroid nodules in the US, and Canada are living in third world countries and are subjected to over-treatment for their nodules with thyroid surgery. How can the most powerful country in the world be so far behind the rest of the world?

For many years Korean companies with state of the art thyroid friendly radiofrequency ablation systems have failed to get the FDA to approve their use in the states. The companies with approved systems  in the US do not have the kind of systems that can be safely used on the thin neck area where the thyroid resides. Electrodes too long, and too thick.

The list of countries with thyroid RF systems designed by the Korean companies is long.

Even small Latvia has thyroid RF treatment for thyroid nodules. Italy, China,France, and Korea are among the leaders in thyroid alternative systems for thyroid nodules.

Thyroid Ethanol Ablation PEI is a simple procedure already allowed in the USA, but rarely suggested by the primary physician. Most experts in the world consider PEI is the treatment of choice for thyroid or parathyroid cysts. Why do physicians continue to refer to surgeons for an expense and dangerous  surgical procedure over a safe inexpensive out patient PEI for their patients? There are physicians willing to do PEI in the USA, so the patient must look on the internet to find one near them.

PATIENTS:

YOU SHOULD BE MAD AS HELL AND DEMAND THAT YOUR PHYSICIANS BEGIN TO REFER PATIENTS FOR THESE MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURES THAT ARE PROVEN SAFE AND EFFECTIVE. WHY SHOULD THEY HAVE TO GO TO SURGERY BECAUSE RFA IS STILL NOT APPROVED IN THE US. WRITE LETTERS TO THE FDA DEMANDING APPROVAL OF THYROID FRIENDLY RFA SYSTEMS FOR SOLID NODULES. WHY SHOULD THEY GO TO SURGERY BECAUSE THEIR FAMILY PHYSICIAN WONT REFER TO INTERVENTIONAL THYROIDOLOGISTS FOR SIMPLE ETHANOL ABLATION FOR THYROID CYSTS CONSIDERED THE TREATMENT OF CHOICE IN THE USA.

Call me for details on both RFA referral to Italy or Korea for solid nodules and to a US interventional thyroidologists for ethanol for cysts.
