Thyroid No Surgery 101: Ethanol Ablation PEI of Recurrent Symptomatic Benign Thyroid Cystic Nodule

A case Study:

48 Y/O F with visible isthmus mass in the neck after prior drainage procedures was told she needed surgery and came to me for alternative therapy with Ethanol ablation PEI.Thyroid function was normal. and the pre-PEI FNA was benign.

Pre-PEI FNA was benign and 3 ml fluid removed.

The cyst was now 2.3 ml  and 1.2 ml of ethanol was injected after the removal of the fluid. Seen in the pre-PEI ultrasound above.

6 month follow up the cyst was reduced to 0.9 ml from 3 ml.

Comment: Even a small cyst in the middle of the neck can be a cosmetic issue as it was very visible and caused her local symptoms of swallowing.
