Thyroid Cancer Profile
Natural History,Histology ( what it looks like under the microscope),Size of the Tumor, local or distant spread, age at diagnosis, Molecular maker profiles ( BRAF etc), subclinical, ranging to mostly non-lethal to uncommonly lethal. Response to treatments, surgery, radioiodine, and external beam radiation, and ethanol ablation of lymph nodes.
Risks for thyroid cancer from the disease and the treatments
Recurrence,death from the cancer,complications of the surgeries, side effects of the radioiodine, Ineffective initial treatment plan,distant spread to lungs and bone, Need for more treatment, Does not take up radioiodine, Thyroglobulin is not a good maker, Does it show a positive imaging study with FDG PET/CT.
