Thyroid Microwave Ablation MWA of Thyroid Nodules:
US-guided Microwave Ablation of Low-Risk Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma: Longer-Term Results of a Prospective Study
The thought of putting a very thick radio antenna electrode into your neck when radiofrequency uses thin electrodes is beyond me. That size antenna ( 16-17 gauge ) is very large and needs a scalpel to nick the skin to allow entry. RFA 18-19 gauge electrodes can be injected directly into the skin. Large electrodes entering the neck may cause bleeding.
Antenna too long and too thick compared to radiofrequency ablation electrode.
I do RFA in my office and do nor intend to use the present MWA systems unless they can develop a system for the neck.
Call Alicia for details.
